Your donations make a huge difference
To meet the true costs of delivering our service, we need your help so that Flexicare can continue to make a difference.
Flexicare has been providing vital support to families with children with disabilities in our community for 39 years. Our sitting service allows registered families the freedoms some of us take for granted: popping to the shop, attending an appointment, going to church, coffee with friends, or going on a date are just a few examples. Read the family testimonials below to hear what they have to say about Flexicare and the enormous value it brings to them.
Flexicare builds specialist knowledge and strong relationships with the families we support. Our staff and volunteers understand the needs of registered families through lived experience, having been parents or carers of disabled children themselves. We want to continue helping our current families and those on our waiting list.
Please support our charity by donating or fundraising, we are so thankful for your support.

Family Testimonials
BG, Oxford, October 2023
Our family have been using Flexicare for a number of years and it has made a real difference to our lives. As our autistic son has grown it has been very difficult to find conventional childcare for him and impossible for him to join us in most settings outside the home. We have found Flexicare sitters to be very kind and professional, caring for the whole family as well as our son, and – as the name suggests! – very flexible in accommodating requests. Our son stopped being able to attend church safely when he was 8 (8 years ago) and ever since then Flexicare have been invaluable in enabling my other son and me to attend church regularly. They have also been wonderful in enabling us to attend important life events – such as a wedding last month which I would have otherwise had to have missed. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Flexicare have been a valuable resource to my family for the past 12 years. We regularly book in for three sessions a month especially to give us support during long school holidays or for impromptu events that crop up for our other kids that are not covered by our regular care staff. Flexicare care for my daughter with great sensitivity to her needs and she really enjoys the time with the staff she has come to know well over the years. The staff and volunteers of Flexicare are mostly carers and ex-carers themselves that have been on the same or similar journey to the families they care for. This is a unique and wonderful legacy.
The many responsibilities and duties that are part of a carer’s life mean that we are stretched to our limit. Flexicare is an absolute treasure to the Oxfordshire area, so it is essential that it is supported to keep doing what it is doing into the future. The recent economic crisis has hit everyone hard, especially charities like Flexicare and they need support to keep going to do what they do.
Please support Flexicare.

Over the last few years, Flexicare have provided a lifeline to our family. We are parents of two children, the eldest one is severely autistic and learning disabled and struggles with changes of routine, busy environments, and transition between activities, meaning everyday outings are stressful and rare for our family. Flexicare’s regular sits enable my husband and I to have some quality time as a couple, as well as to be able to provide playdates at home so that my youngest can socialise and have as normal and happy a childhood as possible. Best of all, they understand my eldest child and interact with her exactly as she needs them to. I couldn’t thank them enough for everything they’ve done and continue to do for our family, which has had a huge impact in our ability to continue to function and our mental health and wellbeing.

For me, Flexicare has been a lifesaver, allowing me to go out with some other dads and also allowing me to do weekend activities with my other children.
AB, Abingdon, October 2023
We have been registered with Flexicare for nearly 12 years. In that time, Flexicare have provided sits for us so that I can go out with my husband for date nights, or with friends; so that we can attend school events for our other children; so that I can take my other children to appointments that are wheelchair inaccessible; so that I can attend life events that cannot be planned for.
I know my child is safe and well-cared for. I know that sitters enjoy spending time with him (even when he is grumpy – I love that sitters know how to deal with this and soon have him smiling again).
If Flexicare didn’t exist, we would rarely be able to go out as a couple. I would not be able to attend my other sons’ appointments. I would not be able to attend ad hoc events, such as school parents’ evenings. I would have few opportunities for a break from caring.

To be honest, words are not enough to express our thanks to everyone at Flexicare. We have known Flexicare for almost 15 years. Flexicare has provided huge support to my son and my family. Every volunteer from Flexicare is very friendly and brings so much fun to my son.
With great help from Flexicare, we have been able to have more relaxing time than we would have. We are so lucky to have Flexicare in our life.
